NAFL Division 2C

Carryduff recorded their first win of 2012 with a hard-fought victory over Lisburn outfit Wesley.

Carryduff got off to a great start when they were awarded a penalty for a hand ball and skipper Keith Bloomer converted.

Carryduff created several chances against the Division’s bottom side and increased their lead on 33 minutes when striker Jonny Wilkinson scored from ten yards after a good build up involving centre back James Smith.

Wesley hit the visitors with two goals in the first 11 minutes of the second half.

The first was a quick free-kick at the edge of the box and the second after the Carryduff defence had failed to clear a corner.

Rattled by this Carryduff  found themselves under some pressure but were unlucky not to take the lead on the hour when midfielder Colin Shankelton hit the woodwork from a corner.

With 15 minutes to go Carryduff got the winner after a good move when striker Brian Milligan turned the Wesley defence to score and claim the three points to take his team back to sixth place.
