A NATIONAL pilgrimage of the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, blessed by Pope Francis in Rome, has seen large crowds from all over the country flock to pray before it – and now it’s coming to Belfast.
Redemptorist organisers of the pilgrimage have been overwhelmed by the response and acceptance from people of all backgrounds right across the country.
Father Noel Kehoe from Clonard Monastery said: “The pilgrimage makes its final stop at Clonard Monastery and we are inviting you in the days leading to its arrival to join us in prayer for the needs of your family, when we bring the Novena to your street.
“The annual Solemn Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help at Clonard is one of the largest religious festivals in Ireland. We have chosen five areas around West Belfast to give people the opportunity to pray with family, friends and neighbours on their street, aware of the pain and struggles in people’s lives. The Redemptorists see this as an outreach to pray together for the needs of the community.”
The Our Lady Icon will be on display at the following locations:
• Sunday, May 8 at 7pm at Poleglass Roundabout.
• Monday, May 9 at 7pm on the Andersonstown Road at Busy Bee/Iceland to Oakman Street.
• Tuesday, May 10 at 7pm Bombay Street/St Gall’s Avenue.
• Wednesday, May 11 at 7pm Top of the Whiterock/New Barnsley to Albert Street (outside Maureen Sheehan Centre).
