POLICE are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a suspected arson attack in West Belfast that destroyed two businesses.

JJ’s Barbers and A2B Cabs on the Glen Road were gutted in the early hours of Sunday morning after a fire started in the premises at Bingnian Drive around 4.30am.
Both businesses may have to be demolished such was the structural damage caused to both properties.

Owner of A2B Cabs Steven Comerford said he did not know why his business had been targeted.
“We’ve been in the community for 18 to 20 years, I just don’t know why somebody would want to do something like that. It’s hard enough with the day-to-day running of a business and to manage staff and do your daily routines, without the added pressure of where do we go from here.”

Customers of the businesses took to social media site Facebook to post messages of support.
‘That’s an absolute disgrace, they’ve left people out of work and a business destroyed.’
‘A brilliant bunch of lads sorry to hear this.’

PSNI Inspector Mark Cavanagh would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact Police at Woodbourne on the non-emergency number 101.
