Efforts to build a lasting peace between two North Belfast communities will continue this weekend with a cross-community fun and information day.

Residents from Cavehill Road and Westland Road will come together at Westland Fire Station on Sunday (September 18) to enjoy a (very safe) barbecue, bouncy castles and live music.

Belfast City Council will also be on hand to offer practical information on Council-related queries and the NI Fire and Rescue Service will be carrying our fire safety demonstrations.

Organised by the Westland Community Group, Cavehill Antrim Road Regeneration and the North Belfast Interface Network,  the day is part of ongoing work to build community relations between the two areas.

“A lot of good work has been going on over a number of years to develop community relationships in the area,” said Malachy Mulgrew from NBIN.

“The number of incidents have happily decreased in recent years but it is important that to further develop better relationships.”

The Community Information and Fun Day takes place at Westland Road Fire Station on Sunday (September 18) from 2pm to 4.30pm.
