A FORMER St Louise’s Comprehensive College pupil has been crowned Belfast’s Next Top Model. Speaking to the Andersonstown News, 19-year-old Brooke Drive girl Rachel Devlin said: “It still hasn’t sunk in.  I’m just so delighted”.

Rachel entered the competition just before Christmas.

“Initially there were 150 contestants competing to win,” she said. “There were a series of heats and finals in Victoria’s Bar in the town and we had to model a selection of clothes and tell a panel of judges why we wanted to win and what it would mean to us.”

Already a part-time model, Rachel said she couldn’t believe it when her name was announced, as she has never won anything before.

“I have never won a draw, or a ballot in my life. I was awarded a luxury cosmetic hamper, portfolio vouchers and a year-long modelling contract. I’m hoping winning the competition and the experience that I gain along the way will help me realise my dream of becoming a full-time model on the catwalks of New York and Paris.”

“I’m just really proud of my daughter,” said Rachel’s delighted mum Concepta.

“We have always supported her in whatever she has wanted to do and I have been with her every step of the way through the competition process. We all just hope she does really well.”
