POLICE are investigating two arson attacks in North Belfast which took place within minutes of each other on Thursday night.
Shortly before 10pm, police received a report of a fire at a house in Halliday’s Road in the Tigers Bay area.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and the fire was extinguished.
It is believed that an accelerant had been poured onto the windows of the property and set alight. It is understood a young couple lived in the property.
In a seperate incident at around 10.35pm police received a report of a fire at a house in the York Road area.
Again an accelerant is believed to have been thrown at the front of the property and set alight, causing damage to the door.
Detective Sergeant Sands said: “This is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life and I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anyone suspicious in the area or to anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist with enquiries, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1485 20/08/26.
