A MALE has been left with severe head injuries after he was attacked with a hammer during an attempted robbery in West Belfast.
The incident happened at Glow West tanning salon, shortly before 10am on Tuesday morning.
Two men, dressed in dark clothing and one armed with a hammer entered the premises on the Falls Road, opposite the Kennedy Centre.
The men attempted to take the cash register but on finding it empty then assaulted a male working in the shop with the hammer and stole his backpack, before running off in the direction of Milltown Cemetery.
The male required medical treatment for a head wound following the incident.
Staff at the tanning salon have been left "shocked" by the horrific incident.
The PSNI said enquiries are ongoing to identify the males involved and detectives would ask anyone who witnessed this incident, or who may have captured dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area which could help with their investigation, to call them at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 385 08/09/26.
