St Gall"s Henshed
St Gall's Henshed began in Oct 20, 2021. Monica Culbert and Rosemarie O Rawe realised that coming out of Covid people needed to start living again, despite what trauma or troubles they had. So St Gall's henshed was born.
There was a need for women, widowed, married, single to be able to meet up on a regular basis These women had GAA connections.
We started with 6 women and we now have 30+ ladies, aged 60 + who meet weekly. We also have 20+ who also come to our special events. Our activities are wide ranging, walking, armchair exercise, boccia, gardening, and line dancing. The activities are great but the important thing is the socialisation, the communication, and the comaraderie.
Loneliness snd social isolation affects mental health for young and old so much. We combat this by meeting, talking, laughing, crying, etc. We share film nights and bingo with younger people, we have written a book.
We are strong women who stand by one another and live lives as best we can..
