Best of the West 2025

BEST COMMUNITY WORKER / VOLUNTEER FINALIST - John Muir Corpus Christi Club

Your Name: John Muir

Your Organisation/Company: Corpus Christi Youth Centre

Your favourite thing about West Belfast: My favourite thing about West Belfast is definitely the people. The sense of humour is second to none. We’re a funny crowd.

Your First Job: These jobs taught me about being independent, the importance of working and the benefits of earning your own money, it taught me to work with others and have fun at the same time.

What it taught you: Making sure to be in the work for the right reason, being able to ask for help when needed, knowing the needs of the people your working with and willing to work hard.

What do you think are the key ingredients needed to make a person or organisation the Best of the West? My first job was selling the Andytown News around the doors every Wednesday & Sunday night. Before getting a job in Dunnes Stores Park Centre.

I’m from Ballymurphy, I’ve lived here my entire life, I’ve been involved in youth and community work for over 12 years. I’m a family man, I spend the majority of my week being kept busy by my two daughters Hannah & Reina.
