Your favourite thing about West Belfast: I was born, raised and educated in West Belfast. I have to say my favourite thing about it is the people, the community spirit and most definitely the food. We definitely have the best takeaways. I love how the community always comes together in times of need. The feile is definitely a highlight and I love seeing all communities come together to have fun.
Your First Job: Dunnes stores deli counter
What it taught you: That I love to meet and chat to new people, I loved helping and supporting people. I was only 16 when I started and felt it gave me a good work ethic. I worked with so many amazing people. My confidence definitely grew in this role and I learnt how to cook a whole chicken lol.
What do you think are the key ingredients needed to make a person or organisation the Best of the West? I believe that compassion, empathy, and respect are so important when supporting others. Every family i meet has a unique story, and i believe listening and genuinely caring can make all the difference. The families I support are at various stages of their journey, and it's important to adapt my approach to meet them where they are. I feel my own experiences as a parent carer has helped me develop resilience that enhances my ability to support others effectively. My Moto is ' find your people and everything else will fall into place'. Every family I work with inspires me to continue making sure no one feels left behind.
I’m a mummy to two wonderful children with additional needs. My parenting journey revealed gaps in support, inspiring me to retrain in family support. I now use my lived experience to empower families, guiding them through their own journeys. I'm proud to work with and for Angel Eyes NI.
