What it taught you? That caring isn't a task you complete, it’s a relationship you nurture. It taught me that our elders carry the stories and wisdom that shaped our community, making their care not just a job but an honour that shapes who you become as a person.
What do you think are the key ingredients needed to make a person or organisation the Best of the West? Organisations needs to have a genuine warmth, something we are passionate about creating at Macklin Group. Anyone we encounter in our nursing home, including family members, service providers, postmen, window cleaners – they all receive an inclusive welcome.
Operating an organisation in West Belfast in 2025 also requires heart-led leadership, driven not by profit margins but a genuine care for the community. At Our Lady’s Home, our 'Care with Heart' philosophy means every decision is filtered through one question: "What's best for the people we serve?"
Deep community roots separate the good from the great. West Belfast's strength comes from organisations that don't just operate in the community, they belong to it. We're not outsiders providing a service; we're neighbours caring for neighbours, woven into the fabric of local life.
Our Lady's Care Home, overlooking West Belfast, provides specialized nursing, dementia and mental health care for over 100 residents, treating each with dignity and respect. Part of the Macklin Group, Our Lady’s Home is committed to providing person-centred care and a life of fulfilment for each resident and their families.
