ST Peter’s Cathedral in West Belfast say they have said to replace 24 candle lighters in the last week after they were stolen.
The Cathedral have appealed to parents and guardians to speak to their children.
“Over the past week, we have unfortunately had to replace 24 lighters used to light the candles in the cathedral.
“We can see on CCTV that young boys have been taking them. We would kindly ask parents and guardians to speak to their children and remind them not to take the lighters from the cathedral.
“We do not want to have to chain the lighters to the candelabras.
“These lighters are there for everyone to use safely and are not toys. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us to look after our cathedral.”
