RENOWNED activist Greta Thunberg was in West Belfast on Wednesday night and stopped off at the Andersonstown Social Club – also known as the PD.
The 23-year-old Swedish activist is known for pressuring governments to address climate change and social issues.
She rose to prominence in 2018 campaigning on environmental issues.
In recent years she has been an advocate for Palestine. In December, she was arrested at a demonstration in London in support of the Palestine Action protesters who were on hunger strike in prison.
Last October, Greta was detained by Israel after taking part in the first Global Sumud Flotilla. She was on the same boat as Ardoyne man Fra Hughes.
On Wednesday night, Greta posed for a photo with staff from the PD.
She was pictured wearing a 'Free Marwan' jersey in reference to jailed Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti, who has been in prison in Israel since 2002.
PD Committee member Michael Porter Snr told us: "We were absolutely delighted that Greta took time to call into the club.
"She is a great social activist and supporter of Palestine."
