WEST Belfast councillor Róis-Máire Donnelly has encouraged people to have their say on major new plans to improve transport across Belfast and the surrounding area.
The proposals, unveiled today by Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins, include more pedestrianised streets, new Glider routes and better bus connections.
Councillor Donnelly said: “This is a real opportunity to make Belfast a more modern city, with better public transport and more space for people to enjoy all that our city has to offer.
“During Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann we saw just how brilliant our city centre can be when we open up more streets to pedestrians. We have the opportunity to build on that success.
“The plans include new Glider routes, more pedestrianised streets and new measures to reduce traffic passing through the city centre.
“This is about making it easier for people to get around Belfast, bring more people into the city centre and support the restaurants, theatres, music venues, shops, and businesses that make it such a great place to visit.
“There is a lot to be positive about in these plans, and I'd encourage everyone to have their say on what they'd like to see improved.”
