Best advice you could give someone thinking of a teaching career A sense of humour goes a long way

I have been married to John for 34 years. I have 4 amazing children and one beautiful grandson. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I firmly believe that school is an extension of my family. I have been working with young people for the past 28 years, starting off in BIFHE where I was involved in delivering the catering awards. I then moved to CBS and now work in All Saints College.

I work closely with many students and assist them to achieve their full potential. I also participate and organise many extracurricular activities such as “Move Your Mind” which is a programme focusing on mental health issues for the pupils.

I am heavily involved in the Princes Trust Award and encourage pupils to take an active role in helping others in their community. They do so by providing clothes, toiletries and treats to the homeless, arranging afternoon tea for senior citizens and collecting food for Christmas hampers.

In the past I organised trips to orphanages in Romania and this experience provided the young people with long lasting memories. I have been very lucky in my career choices, and I value the support that I have been given over the years.
