OVER £3,000 has been raised in 24 hours to support a Ballymurphy family following a devastating house fire.
Firefighters were called to the property on the Springfield Road at 9.34pm on Monday night.
Two appliances from Springfield Fire Station and one appliance from Cadogan Fire Station attended the incident. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire and assisted two casualties with first aid.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and firefighters left the scene at 11.36pm.
A GoFundMe page has raised £3,074 at the time of writing.
Anna Nixon, who set up the page, stated: "A mother and her four kids house has been completely destroyed due to a fire.
"Thankfully everyone has made it out alive and are safe but they are left with nothing, everything has been completely burnt.
"They are starting from scratch with a nearly two-year-old with epilepsy and a 13-year-old with autism. Both kids have lost everything.
"Any donation to help this family get back on track would be appreciated especially coming up to Christmas."
Mallon Brothers Funeral Directors donated £500 to the appeal.
"A local family from Ballymurphy have sadly lost their home and belongings in a house fire," they said. "The people of Ballymurphy and surrounding areas have supported us from the very beginning, and when one needs a bit of support, it’s only right we give it back.
"We’re not just a business in this community. We’re part of it. We live here. We’re from here.
"Thinking of the family at this awful time. Ballymurphy looks after its own."
Local councillor Róis-Máire Donnelly said her thoughts were with everyone involved.
"I know the Ballymurphy community will rally round and support the family in the coming days," she said.
