LARGE numbers are expected to attend a solidarity rally on Saturday afternoon to show support for the residents of Garvaghy Road.
The rally will take place on the Garvaghy Road from 3pm.
It has been organised amid the growing support for Garvaghy Road residents amid a stand-off with the Portadown District Orange Order over their controversial parade.
Sinn Féin Councillor Catherine Nelson has called on people across Ireland to come out and show their support for residents of the Garvaghy Road.
“Support is growing across Ireland and internationally for the Garvaghy Road residents," she said.
“The right of this community to live peacefully, free from fear and sectarian intimidation, must be protected.
“The residents have been lifted by the immense support they have received, and I am calling on everyone to make every effort to come out and show your solidarity, and your opposition to the attempt to force an unwanted Orange march through the heart of this community.
"There can be no going back, not now, not ever.
"Together let's send that message."
