Best advice anyone ever gave you: “Bring Philosophy into Holy Cross Boys.”’ T. Laverty.
Best advice you could give someone thinking of a teaching career: Just don't make a difference – allow a difference to be made to you.
I have been the Principal of Holy Cross Boys’ for the past nine years and have been nominated for the observational documentary Young Plato by filmmakers Neasa Ní Chianáín and Declan McGrath. It’s a film which is based on the vision of the HCB team to use critical reasoning and pastoral care to empower our boys to see beyond the boundaries and limitations of our community.
In the film, you witness how the boys challenge the narratives of the community and how the children are encouraged to think for themselves and ultimately find their voice.
The film will premiere in Yorkgate from March 11 2022 for one week only and is a must for all to see as it shows the transformative effect of Philosophy on a child's mindset and that Philosophy is an activity and not a theory hence it can and should be applied to absolutely everything.
