Alison Guilar

Sacred Heart Primary School

I am a classroom assistant at Sacred Heart Primary School. I am very enthusiastic and proud of my school community, and I have worked there since 2011. My journey has been fuelled by a profound passion for aiding children, particularly those navigating the spectrum of autism. I work alongside a wonderful team in the Autism Specialist Classroom, drawing from my personal experience of supporting my own son, who faced challenges with autism during his school years.

In my role, I have a firm commitment to providing children, especially those with autism, with scaffolded support, encouragement, nurture, love, and diverse opportunities for growth. Beyond my work commitments, I find solace and joy in the simple pleasures of reading, watching crime shows and spending quality time with my cherished family. Family holds a special place in my heart, and I am greatly influenced by my own experiences, the good and the not so good and the journey of understanding and embracing differences.

Throughout my life, I have taken immense satisfaction in witnessing the growth and progress of children with autism. My work extends beyond the classroom, fostering understanding and happiness within families, as they navigate the unique challenges and joys of supporting children with autism. I have a real dedication and passion for each and every little child with I work with and can only hope I leave a lasting impact on them. If they remember how much they were cared for and valued then I consider that a job well done.
