Big hearts and strong hands have combined to make the community of West Belfast the pride of Ireland.

Commitment, compassion and can-do are the calling cards of a community which knows only one gear – forward.

At the wheel of this unstoppable community train are enterprising small businesses, vibrant sports bodies, exuberant arts groups and diverse community organisations — all of which are deserving of praise.

And that’s where the annual Best of the West comes in.

For these awards are your opportunity to tell us which organisations and individuals really represent the very cream of the crop.

Over coming weeks, we will invite you to nominate your Best of the West contenders. Our judges will then shortlist the top entries and ask you to vote for your favourite. The winners will then be announced at a mammoth community celebration planned for the Balmoral Hotel on Friday 21 June.

We look forward to having you join us in raising a glass to salute the 2024 Best of the West.
