Best advice you would give to someone thinking of a teaching career: Reflect on why you want to teach. A strong sense of purpose will help you navigate the challenges and stay motivated. Remember that as a teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on your students' lives, inspiring and shaping the future.
As an experienced English teacher with a passion for global education, Jennifer has dedicated her career to inspiring students both in and out of the classroom, following the philosophy that education is much more than just academia. Attaining an Honours degree in English and Education from the University of Stirling, Jennifer taught in Scotland for a number of years, including a transformative stint in Glasgow’s International SchooI.
On her return to Northern Ireland, she joined the amazing staff of Edmund Rice College. Over the years, she has watched the school grow and progress and she is proud to be part of the team driving its success. It is also here that Jennifer met some of her closest friends.
In addition to her role as an English teacher, along with fellow teacher Emma Mone, she leads an annual educational trip to Zambia in partnership with the charity Project Zambia, providing students with a unique opportunity to engage in cross-cultural learning and community service. This life-changing experience not only broadens students' horizons but also fosters a deeper understanding of global issues and the importance of empathy and collaboration.
Outside of school, you’ll find Jennifer reading, travelling, and chatting – often at the same time.
