Our Lady Queen of Peace

Subject or Primary School Year: P1 Teacher

Where you studied: Liverpool John Moores (PGCE Edgehill)

What was your first job? Barista

What did your first job teach you? Be kind to everyone, a smile can brighten someone’s day.

Family/Status: In a relationship.

Best advice you would give to someone thinking of a teaching career: Every day is different. Build strong relationships. Get to know your children and figure out what they enjoy, if the children are happy then everything else will follow. Keep learning. Be open-minded and always be willing to give new things a go!

Since graduating from Edgehill University in 2020, with a PGCE in Early Years, Nicole's teaching career has been very fulfilling. She has had the unique opportunity to work through the Engage Programme in a secondary school, offering Literacy and Numeracy support to KS3 pupils. After two years experience, she moved back to primary education teaching between P1, P3 and P5 year groups. But Nicole's passion is Early Years – particularly play-based learning, and she says she is very lucky to be working in her local school with an excellent bunch of colleagues at Our Lady Queen of Peace.
