TO the residents of Garvaghy Road,
We, members of the LGBTQ+ community across this island and beyond, send our solidarity, respect, and support to you at this time.
Your community has carried decades of strain, resilience, and determination in the face of pressure that no area should have to endure.
You have lost loved ones and we recognise the trauma and fear this march has reignited.
We want you to know that your experiences are seen, your courage is recognised, and your right to safety, dignity, and peaceful living is shared by us wholeheartedly.
Our communities understand what it means to be targeted, to be spoken about rather than spoken with, and to have our lives shaped by forces outside our control.
We recognise the strength it takes to stand together, to protect one another, and to insist on fairness even when the spotlight feels heavy.
Your commitment to community wellbeing, mutual care, and the protection of your homes echoes the values that LGBTQ+ people have relied on for generations.
We stand with you because solidarity is not symbolic — it is practical, lived, and necessary.
When one community is pressured, all communities who have known discrimination feel that weight.
When one community insists on its right to live without intimidation, all of us benefit from that example.
Your stance strengthens the wider fabric of equality and justice across the North.
Please know that you are not alone.
We in the LGBTQ+community, and allies are with you — in voice, in principle, and in shared hope for a future where every community can live without fear, without disruption, and without being made a battleground for political or sectarian agendas.
We honour your resilience.
We support your right to peace.
And we stand beside you in solidarity.
With respect and solidarity,
