PLANS are underway for the third annual Out of the Darkness – A Walk of Hope in West Belfast.

The walk was organised to help raise much-needed funds for suicide prevention charity West Wellbeing, who focus on suicide prevention and providing compassionate mental health care to those in distress.

In the last two years, hundreds of people have set off from the Kennedy Centre at 6am, walking to West Wellbeing offices in the Dairy Farm.

The 2027 event will take place on Sunday, April 4.

Gerard Mulhern, from the organising committee explained: "Planning is underway for the 2027 Walk of Hope — an event that has become a very special part of our community and helps support the fantastic work being carried out at West Wellbeing .

"Community wins because of this annual walk.

"Every year, people come together, walk together, talk together and show just how powerful our community can be when we work as one.

"All ideas are welcome. Whether it’s fundraising ideas, sponsorship, the route, entertainment, promotion or something completely different — we want to hear them.

"Let's make Out of the Darkness 2027 another massive community effort and continue to support the great work at West Wellbeing Suicide Prevention.

"We’re also delighted to be teaming up with one of our marquee sponsors and leaders in digital marketing, Loud Mouth Media.

"It was great to get down, meet Mark and the team, and start working together on what promises to be some big plans for 2027.

"There’s plenty happening behind the scenes, and we’ll be announcing the official launch date very soon.

"Together, we can make a difference."
