PLANS for the expansion of Belfast City Airport have been showcased to the public at a consultation event in West Belfast.

It is anticipated that Belfast City Airport will need to grow to carry seven million passengers annually by 2040.

To support that growth, the airport’s draft proposals would enhance passenger facilities, improve airport operations and invest in critical infrastructure, strengthening the North's connectivity and economy.

Belfast City Airport is holding public consultations on its potential £200 million draft investment proposals throughout the city with the West Belfast event taking place at St Comgall's.

Michelle Hatfield from Belfast City Airport, said: “We’re currently consulting on our draft infrastructure proposals and Planning Agreement amendments. These proposals set out how the airport can continue to support connectivity, tourism, trade, and economic growth, while delivering the infrastructure needed for the future generations and businesses.

“As an airport in the heart of Belfast, we are proud to be part of our local community, and we recognise the importance of listening to the views of individuals from all areas of the city to help inform any future plans.

“We had a great turnout at our St Comgall's consultation and would like to thank the local community and representatives who took the time to come down, speak to the team and learn more about our plans.

“The consultation period is open until October 27. If you are unable to attend one of the public consultation events, you can share your feedback online via the dedicated consultation website, by email or in writing.”
