THE search is on for nominations for the recipient of the Guardian of the Environment gong in this year's Aisling Awards.

The category recognises the efforts of environmental champions on the ground who continue apace with a passion, energy and commitment.

Last year, the accolade went to Tim McCann, GAA Sporting Nature Officer.

This year's award is proudly sponsored by Natural World Products (NWP) and they're looking for your nominations. Based at Glenside Road in West Belfast NWP was founded over 30 years ago and is now Ireland’s leading recycler of organics.

As well as specialising in products produced from the best-in-class recycling process, the company has a dedicated Community Outreach Team committed to supporting growing and sustainability projects in local communities.

Their aim is to educate young people and other stakeholders as to the wide-ranging benefits of the effective recycling of organics. The company is a critical part of Ireland’s circular and bioeconomy working to effect change and deliver sustainable long-term outcomes that help address the challenges of climate change.

Sharon McMaster, Community Outreach Manager for Natural World Products, said:  “We are proud to support the Guardian of the Environment Award at the Aisling Awards which recognises the individuals and groups making a real difference in protecting our environment and promoting sustainability across Belfast.

"There are so many inspiring people working at grassroots level to protect our natural surroundings, enhance biodiversity and encourage greener communities.

"We would encourage everyone to nominate a deserving individual, school, group or organisation whose efforts are helping to create a cleaner, greener future for generations to come.”

The 30th annual Aisling Awards will take place in the Europa Hotel on Friday, November 27.
