Best advice you could give someone thinking of a teaching career: I wanted to inspire and motivate students in Edmund Rice College the same way my teachers inspired and motivated me. Throughout my career as a teaching assistant I have always kept the interests of the students as my priority. I believe making students confident, not only in their studies but within themselves. This Is key to unlocking their full potential.

Treating students with respect helps to establish a process of mutual respect when working with young people. I feel that when students feel respected, they will go that extra mile in their studies, which will further help them in all they achieve in all areas of life. The students will eventually become the future and helping equip them with positive vibes along with their qualifications will make it a bright and healthy future. It is both a honour and privilege to work with these inspiring young people each day.

I am currently 33 years old living in North Belfast. I attended St Mary's on the Hill Primary School before attending Edmund Rice College. After secondary school I had numerous jobs, including plumbing and security. It as in 2010 I put myself forward to complete a level 3 certificate in becoming a teaching assistant. It was after that when I became a teaching assistant in Edmund Rice College making my return this time as a staff member. Since then I have never looked back. Working in Edmund Rice College feels more like a hobby rather a job. I have now been here for 12 years and see myself here for many more. Edmund Rice College is one big family.
