FORAS na Gaeilge has once again teamed up with the annual Aisling Awards extravaganza to find the Irish language group or individual activist most deserving of the coveted Gaeilge accolade for 2026.

Over the past 30 years recipients of the prized honour have included Glór na Móna, Raidió Fáilte, An Ceathrú Póilí, Cumann Mhic Reachtain and Cumann Chluain Ard – all standout Gaeilge initiatives that have helped to shape and strengthen the city’s Irish language community.

Last year, the gong went to Gaelchúrsaí, an Irish language further education and training organisation, with a special recognition award to Saibhreas Mháire – Cumann Chluain Árd.

But now the call has gone out for a new crop of enterprising Gaeilgeoirí to put their names forward for the 2026 award.

Foras na Gaeilge is delighted to sponsor the Irish Language Award once again this year.

Deputy Chief Executive Conall Ó Máirtín said: "These awards provide important recognition and encouragement for the outstanding work that groups are carrying out at community level to promote the Irish language.

"Pioneering work is taking place throughout the city in support of the Irish language, and Foras na Gaeilge would like to express its thanks to all those involved for the work they are doing.

"We would also like to congratulate all the groups and individuals who have received an Irish Language Award this year.

"Their work and dedication are at the heart of the cultural and linguistic progress that is taking place at present. As the saying goes, Ní neart go cur le chéile."

The 30th annual Aisling Awards will take place in the Europa Hotel on Friday, November 27.
