A NORTH Belfast visual artist will be focusing on promoting both female equality and nature across the city at this weekend's Culture Night celebrations.
Lise McGreevy will host her successful female equality collection, 'I Am Woman' at Belfast Cathedral, as well as 'Natural Beauty' , which is being hosted at Paperxclips Café in North Street on Culture Night, which takes place on Friday.
Lise said: "Culture Night is an all-Ireland celebration demonstrating the benefits that arts and culture can bring to society and stands tall in promoting both our city and a night for all.
"It is serendipitous that my latest collection 'Natural Beauty' will be previewed at Paperxclips which is the city's only independent, queer-owned and operated bookshop, coffee shop and community space.
"I strongly believe in equality for nature too. After all, Mother Nature is the greatest female of all.
"My 'I Am Woman' exhibition promotes female equality across creed, colour, religion and sexual orientation. It is being hosted at one of the city's most iconic landmarks, Belfast Cathedral, so I am delighted to be joining in with the inclusivity ethos of Culture Night.
"I am absolutely delighted at this wonderful opportunity to be hosting both my equality centred collections simultaneously at two fabulous venues during Culture Night celebrations."
Lise's 'Natural Beauty' body of work is part of the artist's larger educational and creative programme, 'The End Is Nigh', which promotes greater lateral thinking and carbon footprint ownership for all sectors on climate change and sustainability. It was launched two years ago at Féile an Phobail.
Lise added: "This programme takes an all-island viewpoint on the climate catastrophe, as climate change knows no borders. Although focused locally, the project highlights the horrendous future that lies ahead for our planet should we all not act now.
"We all have a part to play in saving our planets for this generation's children and the children that come after."
It is a busy September for Lise. Last week, she launched 'We Salute You' at Mossley Mill, headquarters of Antrim and Newtownabbey Council which celebrates and commemorates the lives of the 61 children who died during the Titanic disaster.
"With it I aim to highlight the relatively untold human story of the maritime tragedy's youngest fallen," she explained. "I wanted to bring the horrific humanic back to the core in stark contrast to the commercialism mogul that has become a core part of the Titanic legacy.
"An astonishing 57 of the children were from third class. Both child crew members were also lost.
"Over 700 staff were among the 1,500 plus people who perished. That is the real story from this maritime disaster."
'I Am Woman' will be showcased at Belfast Cathedral until September 30.
'Natural Beauty' is being hosted at Paperxclips Cafe, North Street on September 18 from 4pm to 10pm.
'We Salute You' is being hosted by Antrim and Newtownabbey Council in Mossley Mill.
