ANOTHER blockbuster weekend is set for Antrim GAA's club scene as all three footballing tiers will be in action across the weekend commencing on Friday.
Belfast Media have devised the perfect plan for both city dwellers and country folk to get your value for money this weekend and enjoy the penultimate weekend of the summer before the holidays finish.
WHAT IS A CHAMPIONSHIP PASS?
The Saffron County announced they would be revolutionising and taking the ticketing for Championship games into the modern era with their Antrim GAA Club Championship Season Pass.
The pass itself comes in three formats depending on your plans this summer and autumn when it comes to attending the best local club action across the county.
The three pass types are:
- The Dual Pass (£149)
- The Hurling Pass (£99)
- The Football Pass (£99)
The Dual pass covers all games in both codes across the board, and the alternative passes offer either hurling or football across the season. These passes include the finals for every grade in that specific code.
For more information, check out the Antrim GAA website for your pass today.
Now back to the plan for the weekend.
BANG FOR YOUR BUCK IN BELFAST
Friday night is the best for kicking off a weekend of jam-packed championship action.
To start with, take a trip deep into West Belfast and up the top of Hannahstown where Lámh Dhearg will be hosting a fantastic clash with St Mary's Aghagallon with both sides set to battle it out for a chance at progression.
Aghagallon thumped the Paddies in their opener, and the Hannahstown men were narrowly defeated in their opener with Portglenone so expect fire-crackers on Friday evening with plenty of jeopardy to feast upon instead of your supper.
On the Saturday, why not take in some very important action on the Shaws Road where St Paul's will hope to cause a mighty upset and hope to cause more woe to Creggan as they welcome the Kickhams to the West of the city.
St Paul's suffered an opening day defeat, but will be determined to bounce back in their home game with a packed Shaws roaring them on.
Creggan also suffered a defeat in their opening game, and this is on par with a knockout tie as a loss for either side could prove detrimental to the hopes of the clubs progressing into the knockout stages.
Sunday is the day of rest, but in championship season it means the opposite and putting some metal to the pedal with Belfast hosting FOUR Senior Football clashes all within short-distances of each other.
Super Sunday is the name given to this weekend's final day with two games as our picks to round-off the perfect weekend.
From the get-go there are four games and you can catch action from all four if you are shrewd enough to do so, but our picks begin on the Shaws Road, where Rossa and Glenravel will battle it out and the winner will no doubt be eyeing up that second spot behind Dunloy in Group One.
Rossa suffered a hammering to the holders a fortnight ago, but with some rested bodies they no doubt have eyed this home clash with Con Magee's as both sides know a result either way will make or break their championship campaign after the away side fell to a late leveller from Tír na nÓg in the final minute of their home fixture. This lunch-time clash will whet your appetite for more.
With time to spare on the road, call in to Bia Loch Lao for some Sunday lunch and once you've been wined and dined head for the Whiterock Road where St John's will be hosting Ballymena in one of the biggest games of the weekend at 5:30pm
Corrigan Park will welcome the team no doubt as they make it their mission to try and win two on the spin when they welcome the in-form All Saints Ballymena to town with a win for either side sparking a chance at topping the group ahead of the final game.
The Johnnies had the result of the opening round when they travelled to South Antrim and managed to prevail with a mighty two-points after they got the job done over Creggan.
Ballymena gave St Paul's a lesson in attacking football after they thumped the Shaws Road men at home and left it all to play for in this fixture.
Friday: Lamh Dhearg v St Mary's Aghagallon (Hannahstown, 6:45pm)
Saturday: St Paul's v Creggan Kickhams (Shaws Road, 6:30pm)
Sunday: Rossa v Con Magees Glenravel (Rossa Park, 1pm)
Sunday: St John's v Ballymena (Corrigan Park, 5:30pm)
There are many more fixtures across the weekend, and details for other fixtures across the weekend are available on the Antrim GAA website and are included in your season pass.
