The armed hijacking of a car in Ligoniel last Thursday night (November 29) which was found burnt out in Ardoyne is being linked to an incident in Cliftonville when two masked men broke in to a house.

At around 5pm last Thursday a man was sitting in his car on the Ligoniel Road when a man armed with a gun got in to the passenger seat and forced him to drive to Elmfield Street in Ardoyne.

There, two other men appeared and the driver was forced to get out of the silver coloured Ford Mondeo.

Then at around 5.30pm two masked men entered a house in Cardigan Drive off the Cliftonville Road and, according to police, “had a look around and left”. No-one was injured in the incident.

The car was found burned out in Jamaica Street at approximately 9.30pm.
