A COMMUNITY fun day in Kilwee has brought families and residents together in a show of solidarity following ongoing concerns around anti-social behaviour in the area.

The event, held last Saturday was organised by Choice Housing in partnership with local representatives following a series of incidents raised by residents.

Families enjoyed a packed afternoon of activities, with Choice Housing providing a chip van, ice cream van and Disney characters. Residents also raised funds to provide bouncy castles, inflatable darts and football activities, as well as face-painting and a table packed with sweets and treats.

The event was hailed as a major success, bringing residents together and strengthening community relations, with representatives from Choice Housing also attending and engaging with families throughout the day.

Councillor Siobhán McCallin said the atmosphere demonstrated the strength and spirit of the local community.

“On arrival there was a joyous atmosphere reminiscent of the early days of Féile an Phobail. I was quickly put to work by Gavin Brown, helping dish out the delicious food from Brown’s Chippy Van," she said.

“We hope that by coming together like this, residents will continue to support one another and work together to live peacefully. We must also continue to stand firmly against anti-social behaviour which can put children and families at risk.

“I want to pay tribute to the proactive parents who came together to organise such a fantastic day. Their commitment, alongside the support of Choice Housing and local representatives, shows the strength and solidarity that exists within the Kilwee community.”
