THE owner of Maddens Bar in Belfast has hailed the Fleadh a "huge success" and something that he is "immensely proud" to have played a part in.
Known for its traditional music throughout the year, the Berry Street pub was one of the go-to spots for revellers during the eight days of the trad festival. Every day, crowds flocked to enjoy the craic, music and pints at Maddens.
Speaking to the Andersonstown News, bar owner Brian 'Bamber' McMullan explained: "The Fleadh is a huge event. It was a huge achievement for Belfast to get such a prestigious event.
"At Maddens, the Fleadh was a huge success for us. We had eight busy days of traditional music inside, outside, in the marquee and all around the pub.
"There were no issues and staff morale was high the whole week.
"I will look back on it and be immensely proud that I was involved in it so much. I wanted everyone who came to Maddens to have a good time and I think everyone did. We are a small pub with a big heart.
"The pumps never stopped and the deliveries kept coming.
"I am pretty exhausted now but it was all worth it."

With the Fleadh returning to Belfast next year again, Brian hopes it will be even bigger and better.
"I hope its legacy is that more people see the importance of trad music," he added. "My hope for next year is that there will be even more spaces and venues made available for acoustic music.
"I have been going to the Fleadh for years so I had a bit of a headstart. I think next year there will be even more visitors to Belfast. There will be a lot of lessons learnt and I am sure it will be bigger and better."
