Subject or Primary school year: Nursery School
Your place of birth: Belfast
Studied at: Belfast Met
First job: SEN Assistant
What it taught me: Every child is unique and blossoms in their own time. If children dont learn the way we teach, then we need to teach the way they learn.
Family/status: Mum to Harvey, Amelia and Kohen.
Best advice you could give someone thinking of a teaching career: Go for it! Working with children is such a fullfilling job. It's hard work but the difference you can make to a childs life is worth every second. Treat every child as an individual, adapt your learning environment so that each child blossoms to their full potential. Be prepared to work hard and the rewards will outweigh the challenges. Believe in yourself and have fun along the way.
After starting my own family i decided i wanted to work with children. I attended Belfast Met and during my course i was placed at Cathedral Nursery as a student, after a short time I then got a post as SEN Assistant this opened my eyes to a different world. To look at the world differently and help build a more inclusive society for individuals with additional needs. I wanted to be a positive role model in the lives of children everyday. I then became nursery assistant and have been there ever since. I love working with the children and families in the community. I love going to work and being greeted by 26 happy smiley faces everyday as the saying goes 'If you love what you do youll never work a day in your life.'
