LEEDS indie rockers the Kaiser Chiefs are the first headline act announced for the annual August Féile an Phobail.

In a stunning coup for Féile, the Chiefs will have revellers from across the city and beyond flocking to the Falls Park to sing and chant the night away to top ten hits  like I Predict A Riot, Oh My God, Never Miss A Beat, plus number one megahit Ruby.

The new album ‘Education, Education, Education & War’ is due for release in just under a week and is one of the most hotly anticipated albums of 2014.

Frontman and BBC The Voice coach Ricky Wilson will be bringing the band to West Belfast on August 9 in what is sure to be a sell-out gig. Féile an Phobail Director Kevin Gamble told the Andersonstown News: “They don’t come much bigger than the Kaiser Chiefs!”

“People were wondering how we'd top last year’s huge 25th birthday celebrations, and we hope that this announcement goes a long way to answering that.

“Part of the thrill of this job is being able to bring big international acts into the heart of our community, and with Kaiser Chiefs, we've got one of the most successful rock acts in recent years, playing in Falls Park.

“The response from people has been simply astounding and I think we nearly broke Twitter the other night when we first announced it.

“The Kaiser Chiefs are just the first piece in the jigsaw that will take Féile 2014 to the next level, and put West Belfast on the international map as the home of the biggest and best community Festival in Ireland.”

Tickets for the Kaiser Chiefs are priced at £25 and go on sale today (Thursday) from Ticketmaster at 9am.
