ANDERSONSTOWN will come alive with music, art, theatre and dancing as part of this year’s Culture Night Belfast celebrations.

‘Culture Night Belfast – Andersonstown’ takes place on Friday, September 23, and will centre around the shops, restaurants, bars and public facilities on the Andersonstown Road from Casement Park to the Busybee car park. The night has been organised in conjunction with this year’s Culture Night Belfast festivities, one of the highlights of the Belfast arts calendar, which provides free arts and cultural entertainment for young and old in the Cathedral Quarter of Belfast city centre.

Culture Night Belfast – Andersonstown has been organised by the Andersonstown Traditional & Contemporary Music School and the Andersonstown Neighbourhood Partnership. “Along with the music, we’re planning face painting, a children’s colouring-in competition, youth theatre, ballroom dancing, and an art and photographic exhibition,” said Thomas ‘Maxi’ McElroy, Manager of the Andersonstown Traditional & Contemporary Music School.

“There will also be buskers, a historical walking tour, history of the GAA, poetry and writers’ circle and Irish dancing. Open deck tour buses are going to run between Cathedral Quarter, the Cultúrlann and Andersonstown on the night.”

Ciarán McCoey, Neighbourhood Renewal Development Officer with the Andersonstown Neighbourhood Partnership, said the partnership was happy to get involved in Culture Night Belfast – Andersonstown.

“A lot of the traders there have got on board and it promises to be a great night for all ages,” said Mr McCoey.

“We’ve helped the Andersonstown Traditional & Contemporary Music School to promote the event in the area and get all local groups involved,” he added

All entertainment is free on Culture Night – Andersonstown and many of the venues involved are providing special deals on ice-cream and food.  Anyone wanting to get involved on the night, or who would like further information on the event , is asked to  contact Maxi on 90434894 / 07754 592 111, or  you can email ad
