Cork-born Ciarán de Baróid was a youth worker, rights advocate and community leader in the Upper Springfield area for three decades and more. His seminal work, 'Ballymurphy and the Irish War', published in 1991, was the first to bring the horror of the Ballymurphy and Springhill massacres to the attention of a national and global audience.
Ciarán is also the author of the travelogue, 'A Little Madness on the Hippie Trial' (2013).
He continues to live in Belfast and to champion justice and equality.
