AN enhanced bus service for the Colin and Blacks Road area of West Belfast has been welcomed by local Sinn Féin Councillor Angela Nelson.

The new 10X express service offers three extra services for the Colin and Blacks Road areas from Monday to Friday during morning and evening peak times, and will join up with the ongoing trial of the Blacks Road ‘Park and Ride’ service that was recently introduced.

“I welcome this new service by Translink which will help the people in the Colin area have more choices in terms of their commute to and from work,” said Councillor Nelson.

“Colin can sometimes be an isolated area so any efforts to open up links to the rest of the city for the residents can only be welcomed.”

Damian Bannon, Service Delivery Manager for Translink, said: “Early figures show that passengers are taking advantage of the new service which operates as an express from Blacks Road along the M1 bus lane.

“Since the launch of this new service we have welcomed positive feedback from passengers, which will help us further improve the service in future.

“In conjunction with these service enhancements we are working with Councillor Nelson to continue to trial the extension of the 650A off-peak service operating between Blacks Road Park and Ride to Blacks road turning circle to enhance the range of journeys for Blacks Road residents.  We hope this trial proves successful and would encourage residents to take advantage of this service also.”
