DUNVILLE Park basked in yesterday’s scorching heat as families, summer schemes and those who weren’t attending the Celtic vs Cliftonville packed in to enjoy the sunshine.

The iconic park, which has just recently reopened to the public following an extensive £2 million refurbishment, now boasts a wonderful new range of facilities, including state-of-the-art 3G pitch, an outdoor gymnasium and a newly-built playground area.

Taking their bikes to the park with their grandmother Rachel O’Neill, Aoife and Miceál Kennedy told the Andersonstown News that they think the new park is  “just brilliant”.

“We have been coming since the park reopened,” said Rachel. “It’s absolutely fantastic to have it again. I used to come when I was small so it is great for the grandchildren to be able to come along.”

Friends Danni Valliday, Nicole Muir, Clíodhna McKee and Chloe Carleton were also out enjoying the afternoon sunshine having a go on the swings. Sinead Pyper told us that Dunville is “the best park going”. Paddy Pyper added: “The park is superb if it’s gets a chance. It really is so nice. I used to come here when the playground was just all bushes and I remember you weren’t allowed to play football.

“The good weather has brought all the families out and there is a great training aspect to the park with the walk paths and the outdoor gym.

“It’s just great to see.”
