It rained medals on the North's champion boxing team in Glasgow on Saturday and the weather in Belfast matched that success. Throngs of women [and quite a few men] waded their way towards Falls Park for Boyzone at the Féile Big Top.

In what was a major signing coup for the 26th year of Féile, expectations were running high. Thankfully the harmonious quartet had read the script and would come complete with their greatest hits.

The atmosphere inside the 5000 capacity tent was electric as die hard fans wore t-shirts emblazoned with the band's name, scarfs and posters were held aloft as chants for the band reached crescendo and then they appeared to mammoth applause.

"We've always said audiences from this town are the best!" said Ronan Keating as the crowd went wild. Hit after hit from their extensive back catalogue poured forth.

Father and Son, Picture of You and Love Me For A Reason were just some of the highlights as the sharp dressed band had the audience begging for more with their polished set.

"Our last summer show and I've got a feeling we've kept the best til last," said Corrie and Fair City favourite Keith Duffy.

West Belfast erupted with cheers before making their way into the night still singing and dancing. And the rain stayed at bay. A serious achievement for all involved and with the mighty Kaiser Chiefs set to take the stage next week, West Belfast is firmly on the musical map.
