DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch are investigating the death of a 31-year-old man at a flat in the St Mary’s Gardens area of Beechmount on Saturday.

Detective Chief Inspector Justyn Galloway said that following a post mortem examination, results have indicated that the man may have died in “suspicious circum-stances”.

Suspicious

“My officers are now carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and I am seeking the assistance of the public to help us with our enquiries,” he said. “I would ask anyone who was in the St Mary's Gardens area between 1am and lunchtime on Saturday, September 13 and who may have noticed any suspicious activity or anyone who has any information which may assist us with our investigation to contact the Major Investigation Team on 02891801507 or text 07717 473543 or contact them by email MIT3@psni.pnn.police.uk”

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Ciarán Beattie said his sympathy went out to the family of the dead man.

“Obviously the people of the area are shocked at the death and at this stage I know the PSNI are investigating the circum-stances but they have not yet said how he died,” said Councillor Beattie.
