A 22-year-old man has been charged with rape, threats to kill, sexual assault by penetration and non-fatal strangulation.
He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court today (Wednesday). As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
The charges are in relation to a report of a serious assault which occurred at the Falls area of West Belfast on Tuesday. On Tuesday morning police had cordoned off land near the Westlink.
