LOCALS have been getting back to nature at a successful family fun day in Ormeau Park as part of the Big Green Weekend.

Organised by the Conservation Volunteers NI, last Sunday’s event in one of South Belfast’s most popular parks allowed visitors to plant bulbs, make bird boxes and enjoy a ‘tree hunt’, all in support of conservation work by the charity.

Praising the open spaces available to people across South Belfast and beyond, Councillor Steven Corr who chairs the Parks and Leisure Committee said: “The outstanding quality of the parks is undeniable, they are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and are an important part of our education programme to help people appreciate the great outdoors and the benefits for those who live, work, or play in Belfast.”
