A North Belfast woman has hit out at the “mindless thugs” who attacked her car when it was parked outside a friend’s house in Ardoyne last week. Clare McFarlane’s Seat Leon, which she bought only two days earlier, was parked outside a friend’s house in Kingston Court on Friday night (July 13) when the front windscreen was smashed and the bonnet badly dented.

The Ligoniel woman, who spent July 12 in Dublin supervising 25 young people from North Belfast on a youth programme, believes the culprits came in to the area intent on causing trouble.

“I am absolutely disgusted,” said the community relations worker.

“It just seems to have been a random attack by thugs with nothing better to do. I only got the car on Tuesday and for this to happen is just gutting.”

Clare says she will now be out of pocket paying the insurance excess and she fears her insurance premium will go up.

“It’s very annoying, particularly because I only got the car two days ago.”

Police in Tennent Street are appealing for information following the attack.
