Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich is delighted to present our third online concert which will go live Friday the 31st July at 8:30pm to celebrate the indigenous festival of Lúnasa. We are also delighted to once again take part in Ireland’s biggest community festival, Féile an Phobail.
Our live concert, which will welcome the Lúnasa festival, will be streamed on the Cultúrlann’s Youtube channel in celebration of the Celtic festival Lúnasa, featuring the best musicians from home and abroad.
After the successful two concerts which celebrated Bealtaine and the Summer Solstice, Cultúrlann are delighted to present a third concert with talented traditional musicians and writers.
In this concert, we’re joined by Dónal O’Connor, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Gráinne Holland, Troda, Brian Finnegan Micheal McGoldrick and more, along with renowned Belfast poet, Gearóid Mac Lochlainn and author Diarmuid Johnston. Broadcaster Caoimhe Ní Chathail will host the concert.
Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin, Director of Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, said: "We have a special celebration planned for the Lúnasa festival with another spectacular online concert, in partnership with Féile an Phobail.
"There will be a wealth of entertainment, provided by amazing talent, talent that is deeply rooted in our natural cycles and in the ancient Celtic calendar."
Carál Ní Chuilín, Minister for Communities, said: "It is fitting that an award-winning organisation like Cultúrlann which is at the heart of the community in West Belfast and serves as a custodian of our language, arts and culture is celebrating Lúnasa with its programming.
"And what a harvest of talent is on offer – music, literature, art, Irish classes, and storytelling.
"We are living in very different times but what the Covid-19 pandemic has shown me is that while art and cultural centres may not have foreseen the impact of this virus, they have shown tremendous flexibility, commitment and resilience to not only deal with it, but to continue operating, albeit in a completely different landscape than what we are all used to."
Féile Lúnasa will begin at 8:30pm on Friday the 31st July on Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich’s YouTube channels. There will be a PayPal link and donations are welcome. Donations will go to the musicians and artists working with us.
