WORK is progessing steadily at the Springfield Dam site as the redevelopment of the land has seen footpaths laid as well as the foundations for its modular classroom.

Sinn Féin Councillor Claire Canavan said that she for one “can’t wait to see the finished product” and that work is expected to be completed in October.

“This project is all starting to take shape. Footpaths have been laid, the builders have laid the foundations for the modular classroom and events space, the bridge was installed on Friday which will join the Dam to the park. The foundations for the fishing platforms have also been laid,” she said.

“I am really looking forward to seeing the finished product and the work is well underway as we aim for the Dam to be open in October,” added the Falls councillor
